Funeral for Michael Cunningham

MICHAEL JOHN CUNNINGHAM

Mike, of Kirkby-Lonsdale, passed away peacefully at Kendal Care Home on 25th June 2026, aged 83 years. Loving husband to Margaret, devoted father to John, Rachel and Anna, proud grandfather, dear father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

He will be greatly missed and remembered by us all.

A Funeral Service will take place at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kirkby Lonsdale, on Friday 17 July at 12.30.

Unfortunately, there is limited space in the church which will only accommodate family and parishioners. We therefore warmly invite our friends to Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club, at 12.30, where the service will be live streamed and where we will join you for a celebration of Mike’s life after the funeral mass.

Mike was an inspiration to many here in Kirkby Lonsdale. His work, both in the services and as a civilian, was confidential and, obviously, of national importance, but he never let that detract from the friendships and relationships he built up within the community. He was fair, honest, humorous, and supportive of the town he and Margaret and family called 'home.' RIP, Mike - and thanks.
